serving in number of people: 6 people
prep time:10
cook time: 45
ingredients:
1 tbsp oil
4 sausage links
8 slices rindless unsmoked back bacon
2 onions chopped into large chunks
5 sliced tomatoes
5 medium sliced potatoes
3-4 cans of beef broth. not all broth may be used
bread and butter to serve
preparation:
1: heat the oil in a large deep frying pan and brown sausages. remove from pan and cut each sausage into 3 pieces. return to pan. NOTE: i like to cook with cast iron. it adds more flavor. however im not sure if you can find a cast iron pan deep enough for this dish.
2: cut each bacon strip into 3 piecesadd to pan and cook until browned
3: add onions and cook until browned. cover contents of pan with boiling beef broth but not to top of pan.
4: continue cooking and add sliced potato. cook until potatoes are soft - you may need to top it off with more boiling broth. NOTE: use only boiling broth. if you don't it will lower the temperature of the dish and slow down cooking
5: add tomatoes. stir well and simmer until tomatoes are soft.
6: serve on plates (not bowls) with bread and butter. i prefer vienna, italian or baggette bread.
short history: this is an old rroma (thats gypsy for those who don't know) recipe. i discovered it when my biological father told my i was romani. i search up a few recipes and found this one. it is one of the few dishes i cook that my fiance likes.
